What is PAT testing?
PAT stands for ‘portable appliance testing’, and refers to the testing of electrical appliances and equipment. The aim is to make sure that the appliance is still safe to use.
This is done visually and through testing via a pat testing machine, which will test the integrity of the cables to ensure it is safe to use. Faulty electrical equipment can cause sparks and shocks, if a faulty item is found it will be stickered with a red label and noted on the certificate.
What to Expect from a PAT Test?
When you book a PAT Testing with us our experienced engineers will carry out:
- Visual inspection: Checking for obvious damage or wear of the appliance and cables before any functional testing.
- Functional testing: Performing specific tests like insulation resistance tests and earth continuity tests depending on the appliance type.
We are fully compliant with UK electrical and health & safety regulations so you can be assured that your property or business is meeting the necessary standards.
Do I need a PAT testing service?
In most cases you need PAT testing if you are:
- Using equipment in a workplace or commercial environment.
- Running a business with electrical appliances (offices, shops, etc.).
- Renting out a property with supplied electrical appliances.
